The Denise House has been providing safe refuge to women and their children fleeing domestic violence for 35 years.

When a leak was discovered in one of the two full washrooms serving their 27 shelter residents, a renovation was undertaken to source and repair the plumbing problem. Unfortunately, that investigation revealed considerable water damage and rot in the floor boards, floor joists and ceiling space below. This surprise discovery increased the anticipated repair time and costs quickly rose beyond the shelter’s budgeted maintenance reserves.

Companies Who Care were happy to help offset those unanticipated costs by covering the repairs to the floor joists, subfloor, tiling and a new bathtub/shower.

We know that all current and future residents will be positively impacted by this donation and that it will make life just a little bit easier for those calling the shelter their temporary home.

We applaud you The Denise House for all you do to provide life-saving shelter and emergency support to the women and children in our community!

Rick Kok from Companies Who Care visited with a gift of $5,600. We appreciate this group of companies that have kindly paid for a newly renovated bathroom. Much needed and our families thank you!
